The Final Promise

Yesterday evening on the drive home, Ty asked me what we were doing for family night.  I gave him the bad news first.  I would be teaching a lesson to fulfill a requirement for my religion class.  He's so kind to endure one of these every week (yes, "endure" is probably a pretty accurate term).  It just so happened that I was ready for it on Monday this week and I was in charge of family night.  Then I shared the good news.  "BUT, for the activity.... (imaginary drumroll)... we're going to do a video house tour!!!"  I'd promised this to a few people and the anticipation seemed pretty high since we've talked a lot about the weird little place we live in.

He didn't seem as thrilled as I was.  And then I thought about the condition of our house.  I thought about the dishes in the sink, the books all over the table, and well... I realized that in order to do this activity, we'd need to spend a good while cleaning first.  So then I said, "Oh wait.  Nevermind.  We're going to watch an episode of Psych instead."  Which honestly shouldn't count as a family night activity since we do that pretty much every night anyways.

So this morning, I went to Ty with a proposition.  I said, "How about I make sure the house gets really clean today (or at least presentable), and then we can try to video our house."  He kindly consented.  He even gave me a high five when I pointed out that this would fulfill my third and final promise.  He even looked excited.  What a good husband I have.  On top of that, he even agreed to be the tour guide if we took turns.  But he seemed to be enjoying it so much, I never mentioned it again.  He did a great job.  Anyways, without further ado... welcome to our quirky little home.

I broke it up into smaller segments because we don't want to bore you to death.  They range from like 31 seconds to less than 2 minutes long.  First, the entry and front room and bedroom. (1:46)

The front room some more (1:52)
The Guest Room / Storage Room / Baby Room (1:41)

The Kitchen (1:09)

The Bathroom (0:31)

The Laundry Room (0:50)

The Office / Finale (1:38), my memory card got full toward the end of this one, so you might notice the chop toward the end.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!  This is in no way intended to replace a visit to our home.  You still need to come  see it in person... and us.

  1. Oh my goodness, this was the funniest thing. I felt like I was on a tour of a hobbit house and we were the big people. And that the hobbit house was built inside a tree.

"Our baby is going to have a happy life," well, yes, yes she is. Anyone with an exercise saucer most certainly should have a happy life.

I loved that you pointed out the pink toilet paper holder in the under water bathroom. Michelle, the bathroom tour reminded me of Arial's Underwater Adventure that you so kindly went on with me again and again. I very nearly heard, "Ahhhhhhh---ahhhhhhhhh--ahhhhhhhhhh, AHHHHHHH--AHHHHHHHH-AHHHHHHHHH" refrain as you showed it to us.

This made my morning...and I have a lot of it left...so thank you very much for starting it out so happily. I just loved this.

  3. I'm loving the paneling and the extra doors and Ty's need to share the water pump with us.

It's quite clear that this apartment is a memorable first stop.

I now can come and visit and dream all about food storage.

    I can hardly wait.

  4. I laughed and laughed and laughed. My personal favorites were:

Hearing Michelle quietly chuckle in the background.
Seeing the coin operated washer that gives you back your coins.
The whole diploma on the wall part... laughed and laughed about that one.
Oh, and I also loved that you had a picture of the Savior and the Proclamation in place of a TV.

I haven't laughed this hard since Hydn opened up his call from Capital One.

    I love you,
    Cali

ps. Don't use the pencils... I think the lead only goes down 1/4 of an inch. Laughed with this part too.

  5. that is definitely a quirky little apartment. but did you know that you can switch the hinges on the fridge door to the other side so it opens up the other way? at least most fridges like that can be switched. witch is why it has a handle on both sides. maybe just something to look into to make it work a little easier!! Ty was an exceptional tour guide.
