Page Visit

At the end of July / beginning of August, my family (The Pages) came out to the east coast to visit.  My dad has always been looking for a good excuse to take us all to see his historic childhood home in Delaware.  Everyone flew in to Philadelphia, then we met them the next day in Wilmington, Delaware to see this historic sites.  When we pulled up, Grandma Page laid claim, or first dibbs, to the grandchild.

My dad loves Tastykakes.  That's one of the benefits of being on the east coast.  My dad gets to eat them when he's here, and we have an easy default for his birthday and Christmas presents.  Ty didn't believe they could be any better than Hostess, so he decided to have my dad do a closed-eyes taste test.  Mind you, my dad has eaten both Tastykakes and Hostess, and is convinced that Hostess pales in comparison.  Mind you, my dad is also the guy who wouldn't eat blue M&M's when they were first introduced because he swore up and down that they tasted funny.

They were both surprised by the results.  Ty was surprised that there really is a difference, and my dad was surprise that the difference wasn't as pronounced as he had believed.

We spent the next two days at the beach in Fenwick Island, Delaware.  This is the same beach we went to with my cousins last year.  We joined them again this year.  (I wrote about it.  If you care, click [here].)

Apparently the ocean was a little too cold
Much better...

Playing in the water... this is how you get my sister Jayna and I to get in apparently.

Every time I go to the beach, I try body surfing exactly once.  Every time I go to the beach, I get enough salt water up my nose to last me until the next time I go to the beach.

The boys played football and a game called.... I forget what it's called.  But it's basically a version of badminton if I understood it correctly.

If you ask me what's up with my face, your answer will either be "I don't know,"
"I was trying to get something out of my teeth," or "I was born that way.  Be nice."

We had a lot of fun on our trip.  We spent a few hours at the beach a few times, we hung out at the house we rented nearby on a river, we had a barbeque, we took family pictures, and we just enjoyed each other's company.  Since this is getting to be such a long post, I posted Page family pictures separately [here].

After our visit to the beach, my family came back to our house in Maryland.  Ty left the next day to go on the "pioneer trek" with the youth in our Church, and my family stayed with me.  We didn't get as many pictures back at our house.  But we did get a picture of our customary and essential visit to Rita's.

Okay, and we got these pictures too.

Now I'll close with a single picture of the most commonly photographed sight on the entire trip.

Playing on Grandpa's belly is the best.  Life just doesn't get any better.

  1. This is so great to read about! I love seeing the pictures, I love reading your witty captions.

Your dad's childhood home is not at all what I pictured. But when I saw it I thought, "Oh yeah. That fits. That's the time period."

I love it when you post.

  2. 1. I feel the exact same way when it comes to the beach/ocean water. One visit lasts me a good year or two! Haha
    2. Your family looks great!
    3. You look amazing for just having a baby. Grant it, she's a few months old now, but you still look awesome.
