January

Wow!  As I sifted through my pictures from January, I realized I took a lot!  And we did a lot!  It was a great month.  I'll just sum it up as briefly as I can.

This particular "event" technically started in December, but we celebrated New Years with the Ellsworths in Oklahoma and had a great time.  They are such a great family, so welcoming and fun, and we really enjoyed getting to spend time with them.  Unfortunately I didn't really take any pictures, but I stole these from Maddie (hope that's okay!)

Afton absolutely adores Hydn.

One of Afton's favorite things was riding the "trucktor" with Hydn.  He was sweet enough to take Eliza around for a bit too.

After we get back to real life, we had a few firsts:

Afton gave her first family night lesson: "I Am A Child of God."  She did a great job!

She also started helping mom with chores every day.

And Eliza was not about to be left out.

Since the last post, I realized I made a mistake on when I posted about our game night with Matt and Stephanie.  That actually happened in January.  So just for accuracy's sake, here is the documentation again:

We love having them live so close to us!  We also spent a fun day going to the children's museum with Stephanie and two of their kids, Ethan and Zoe.

Ethan, Afton, and Zoe playing with manufactured snow.

Eliza grocery shopping.

Afton in her version of a "fire ma'am" outfit.

Eliza eating in the cozy cottage.
Afton the astronaut.

I'd like to say the previous pictures portray an accurate summary of our visit to the museum, but that would be untrue.  I was able to only snap the two following pictures (due to running around and putting out fires) that give a little better of an idea of our day that day.  But either way, I'd be lying if I said we didn't have a great time!

Afton breaking into a bank.
Eliza kidnapping the entire hospital nursery for the seventh time.

We had a little bit of "cold" (for San Antonio) streak.

We discovered the children's theater downtown and took the girls one Saturday to see "Pinkalicious."  It is based off of a children's book, and it was really good!  It was short enough and entertaining enough for the kids to love it, but didn't make moms and dads want to bang their heads against the wall.  I'd say that's a good balance!

Those are some of the biggest events of the month, and here are a few random pictures:

Lunch break park date with dad.

In December we (and doctors) thought Eliza had a penicillin allergy.  It turned out to be ringworm.  Lots of ringworm.

Eliza discovered the underwear drawer, and excitedly says, "Ana" and "Elsa" every time she raids it.

That one time Afton poured her own syrup.

Sick day movie day.

Ty told Afton a series of bedtime stories about Mr. Pineapple and Banana Boy and their journey to the island
of Nose-alose so Mr. Pineapple could smell.  He promised me he would write them down... stay tuned...

We discovered a screw in our tire on our way home from taking Ty to work.

The girls watching watching with fascination as Ty gets ready for work.  He runs most days.

We will miss the days when Eliza snuggles up while we get her ready to put in bed.

Afton discovered snails in our backyard and started a shell collection.  Apparently toothpicks are part of the process.
One of mine and Ty's dates.  We are using a "state" theme now.  This was Pennsylvania (Philly Cheesesteaks).

We had a great month!  Maybe I'll figure out a more efficient and exciting way to document February, but for now, I'm out of time.  So I guess that's it for January!
